True Friends
One summer noon an ant felt extremely thirsty , and ran about here and there in search of water but in vain . At last he came to a nearby stream . He was drinking when a strong wave washed him away . He was desparately struggling to get away from the rolling waves but found no escape . At that time a dove from a tree on the bank watched the plightful condition of the drowning ant . His heart at once melted and picked up a leaf and flew immediately to the ant and dropped it just before him . The ant got upon the leaf and the leaf by degrees floated ashore . Thus the ant's life was saved .
A few days soon after this incident , the dove was fast asleep on a branch . A hunter took it an opportunity to shoot the dove down . He gladly set the arrow to his bow and aimed at the sleeping bird . The ant saw the hunter in action . He at once realised that his friend's life was in danger . He ran fast to save the bird . He stung the hunter violently on the leg . The arrow went immediately amiss hitting the branch . The bird woke up , thanked his friend and went off singing merrily .
Moral : A kind act never goes wasted .
