TRANSPORT
Transport is the carrier or means by which men and materials are moved from one place to another. The carriers are cars, lorries, trains, buses, ships, aircraft, etc. The cheapest transports are porters, animals and bicycles. Buses and taxis are mainly carriers of commuters.
Railways carry the bulk of the passenger and goods traffic of the country. Water transport like boats and ships carry cargoes like coal, oil, ores, grain, tea etc. to the overseas countries.
The aircraft is the swiftest and costliest of all transport. Transport is vital to our daily life. It is an essential part of a country's economy. It enables raw materials to be brought to where they can be turned into goods. And the goods are brought to the people who wish to buy them. Transport helps us to get to work or school or bring home shopping.
