Ans. The government in December 2004 set up a Board for Reconstruction of Public Sector Enterprises (BRPSE) to address the problems relating to strengthening, modernisation, reviving and restructuring of public sector enterprises. The functions of the Board include: . • to advise the Government on ways and means for strengthening public sector enterprises in general and making them more au- tonomous and professional; • to consider restructuring - financial, organisational and business of public sector enterprises and suggest ways and means for fund- ing such schemes; • to examine the proposals of the Administrative Ministries for re- vival/restructuring of sick/loss making public sector enterprises for their turnaround; • to advise the Government on

disinvestments/closure/sale in full or part, in respect of chronically sick/loss making companies, which cannot be revived.
