BANK ROBBERY : BHOWANIPUR BRANCH

Kolkata , April . 4. Yet another daring bank robbery took place in the city , this morning at 10 a.m. at the Bhowanipur Branch of the State Bank of India . Five persons in ordinary dress got down from a black Ambassador and entered the bank . All of a sudden , they fired at the guard of the bank at point blank range and took position at different corners .
While two of them remained outside threatening the customers at revolver point to keep speechless , another three took charge of the manager and others on duty . The bank manager was made to stand with his hands up and face to the wall . The cash collection amounting to Rs . 2,50,000 / - was taken away . It was the busy hour of the day and the branch was crowded with customers . But the miscreants could easily escape in the same car which was waiting outside . All these happened within the span of 10 to 15 minutes and in complete silence . The police appeared on the scene almost half an hour after the incident . The guard died before long on the spot . The bleeding cashier was removed to hospital . Police investigation is still going on . No arrest is reported till now .
